What are we learning this term (3)?

Main Experiences

Patchwork- In this textiles and science experience, children will explore the properties and uses of various materials. They will then apply their learning to design and create a patchwork blanket for one of the farm animals.

A UK Quiz Quest - In this exciting experience, children will embark on a journey to discover all about the UK! At the end, they’ll put their newfound knowledge to the test in a fun and interactive UK quiz.

Discrete Experiences

English - We will be focussing on the story of Elmer, where children will write their own story of a patchwork animal. Later on in the term, we will also explore the story of 'On the way home' by Jill Murphy.

In Reading - pupils will either continue with their Read, Write, Inc. phonics sessions.

Maths- Pupils will learn about place value within 20 and continue to look at addition and subtraction within these numbers.

PE - This term our PE focus is gymnastics.

RE - In RE we are focusing on creation. We will look at the creation story and how Christians put these beliefs into practice in the Church community and their own lives.

Wellbeing - This term’s wellbeing focus is centered on understanding friendships. It emphasises the ability to describe a broader range of emotions and explores how we can collaborate to build positive, healthy relationships.

How can you support at home?

Sensational Seal

The children have been learning about our school's locality (Seal) and have been learning to write instructions to tell people how to get here!

Patchwork!

In term 1, the children have been learning about Elmer the elephant. They have created a beautiful, patchwork piece of art to display in our Inspire Gallery.

When I was Young!

In this experience we have been learning about changes that have happened in our lifetime. Our hook was a day sharing baby photos and our outcome was a poetry recital at Seal Library. We learnt how to collaborate with others and use alliteration and noisy words in our poems.
