What are we learning this term?

Main Experiences

Head, shoulders, knees and toes.

In this science-based experience we will be learning all about the human body and the way that it functions. For our hook, we had our PE lead, Miss Sutherland hosted an amazing fitness class for the whole of year 1! For our outcome, we will deliver our own fitness class to the children in reception.

Sensational Seal

In this geography-based experience we will be learning about the geographical features of our local area. We will be writing a non-chronological report, detailing all there is to do in our local area of Seal!

Maths

In maths this term we will be focussing on:

-place value within 10

-addition and subtraction

-an introduction to geometry.

PE - This term our PE focus is gymnastics. We will be basing our learning on tuck, jump and roll in order to perform movements using the springboard.

RE - In RE we are focusing on 'Christianity'. Our big question is 'What do Christians believe God is like?'.

Wellbeing - This term's wellbeing focus is focused on understanding feelings. Focusing on the alibility to describe a wider range of feelings and what children can do if they feel them.

Learning Experiences 2023-2024

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

In this experience we will be learning about the human body. We will begin by learning  to name, identify and describe the functions of body parts. We will then focus on how to keep our bodies healthy through exercising. Using experts and the knowledge we have learnt, we will create an exercise video to help others to keep fit and healthy.

Joe Wicks, one of our experts:

We had to make sure that we were experts, so we persevered to make sure that we were completing our exercises accurately.

Mastermind UK

In this experience we will become experts on the United Kingdom. We will learn about th countries that make up the UK, the seas that surround the UK, the capital cities of the UK and much more. We will then participate in a Mastermind competition, where our specialist subject is the United Kingdom.

We will watch Junior Mastermind to understand what Mastermind was all about:

We played hedgehogs and dolphins to understand what an island was.
