Teaching Assistant - Mr Mann and Miss Popperwell
Forest School is on a Wednesday morning. Children should wear their Forest School kit every Wednesday and bring their school uniform to change into afterwards.
PE is on a Thursday morning. Children should come into school dressed in their PE kit.
Main Experiences
TERM 1 EXPERIENCES:
Ravishing Regions - In this Geography and English experience, the children will be exploring the differences between Kent and Snowdonia, talking to experts and learning about the human and geographical features that can be seen. We will be creating a narrative to set the scene of Snowdonia to send to our experts.
A Lot On My Plate - In this Science and English experience, the children will learn about the digestive system and the way the human body works. They will explore this through writing an explanation text that can be used to teach other people about the process.
On Top Of The World - In this Geography and English experience, the children will be exploring topography and the way that climate is impacted by the landscape. We will be developing our narratives from our first experience to create a conflict and resolution.
TERM 2 EXPERIENCES:
May The Force Be With You - In this Science and English experience, the children will be looking at contact and non-contact forces. We will be writing up an experiement to share with other schools across the trust.
Slice Slice Baby - In this D&T and English experience, the children will be looking at different cutting and slicing techniques to create a salad. They will be creating a recipe and instructions for their salad so they can be followed and recreated.
Poetic Prints - In this Art and English experience, the children will be looking at printing techniques to create a seasonal card to share with local people in supported living. Inside the card, we will be writing poems with a seasonal theme to share with the recipients of our cards.
DISCRETE EXPERIENCES:
Reading - Pupils will either continue with their Read, Write, Inc. phonics sessions or do Guided Reading. Children in Guided Reading are focussing on key skills: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval and summary. We are reading 'Highland Falcon Thief' by M.G Leonard and Sam Sedgman, and we will be looking at a range of poems at the end of term.
Maths- Pupils will learn about place value and partitioning including hundreds, tens and ones. We will then learn about addition and subtraction including 3 digits +/- 2 digits, followed by multiplication and division with a focus on times tables.
PE - This term our PE focus is netball. We will focus on catching, passing and scoring. We also have a dance instructor coming in every other week until May to teach us.
RE - In RE we are focusing on Sikhism. We will explore the similarities and differences to a Sikh life compared to our own and think about their experiences whilst worshipping in the UK
Wellbeing - This term's wellbeing focus is an introduction to mental health and wellbeing. We will look at feelings and how to cope with a range of different feelings. We will also be looking at how to be a good listener.

A narrative to send to Snowdonia experts to demonstrate our understanding of the differences between Kent and Snowdonia - please see completed narratives in 'On Top of the World'.

Modelling the digestive system using crackers and bananas and squeezing it through tights and cups! This represented the intestines and rectum.
Our Outcome
We created explanation texts to teach about the process of digestion to others.

In this Geography and English experience, the children will be exploring topography and the way that climate is impacted by the landscape. We will be developing our narratives from our first experience to create a conflict and resolution.
Our Hook
Using VR headsets to visit Snowdon and a range of other mountains, potato contours and gathering information about what mountain climate is like
Our Outcome
This is a shared outcome from Ravishing Regions, a narrative exploring the changes in climate up Mount Snowdon.

We created rockets and considered the forces that impact rocket launching and why ours came back to Earth but real ones don't!
Our Outcome
We created a written report on an experiment to share with other schools across the academy to see if we could recreate their experiments.
